Q8J
Processor

There's always room for improvement, isn't there? Which is why we pushed further and created the Q8J. Taking the Q8, fine-tuning it, and adding multi-Gigabit per second transceivers for JESD204B and PCIe interfaces, and enabling access to external DDR3 or DDR4 memory. With its support of JESD204B, the Q8J enables the next generation of Software Defined Radio (SDR).

xiphos-Q8J

The Q8J processor card offers the following key features:

  • Builds on the Xiphos Q8 processor
  • Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ Multi-Processor System-on-Chip (MPSoC) Processing FPGA, including quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 Application Processing Unit, dual-core ARM Cortex-R5 Real-Time Processing Unit, and an ARM Mali-400 GPU supported by massive programmable logic resources
Memory:
  • 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM (with ECC), 2 x 256 MB QSPI Flash (NOR), 2 x 128 GB eMMC, and support for external PL-accessible DDR3 or DDR4 memory via its mezzanine connector.
Power:
  • typical 6W @ 5V to 16V
Interfaces:
  • Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 & 3.1, serial, multiple high-speed I/O via mezzanine connector, including GPIO, LVDS, GTH and GTR multi-Gbps transceivers for SATA, PCIe, and JESD204B
  • Linux SDK
  • Radiation effects mitigation & 30krad TID lifetime

Specific Use

The Q8J Processor is ideal for space applications that require high processing power, flexibility, and low power consumption. It is often used for SDR applications, as well as for other applications that require high-speed data processing, such as Earth observation, radio astronomy, satellite communications, and RF-sensing
