Role Description
The Quality Assurance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, improving, and ensuring compliance of Xiphos’ Quality Management System (QMS) with AS9100 standards. This role ensures that company processes, products, and suppliers consistently meet aerospace quality requirements and customer
expectations.
Working closely with teams across engineering, production, supply chain, and management, the Quality
Assurance Engineer will act as both a hands-on practitioner and process leader, driving continuous
improvement, audit readiness, and operational excellence throughout the organization.
Main Tasks
Company-Level Quality Leadership
- Maintain and continuously improve Xiphos’ AS9100-compliant Quality Management System.
- Conduct internal audits and coordinate external audit activities.
- Train and support employees in quality standards, processes, and best practices.
- Monitor, analyze, and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for quality processes, suppliers, and production.
- Manage internal non-conformities (NCs), corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and ensure timely resolution.
- Lead initiatives to adapt quality processes to Xiphos’ evolving organizational structure and transition from project-based to product-based operations.
Supplier Quality Management
- Evaluate and monitor supplier performance using established KPIs.
- Manage supplier-related non-conformities and corrective actions.
- Support supplier qualification, audits, and ongoing development.
Production and Manufacturing Support
- Oversee product safety, ESD, FOD, cleanliness, and environmental control procedures.
- Manage calibration programs for production equipment and verification tools.
- Support issuance of Certificates of Conformance (CofC) and ensure traceability of manufacturing data.
- Develop and monitor production quality metrics and ensure compliance with AS9100 requirements.
Engineering and Project Quality
- Verify adherence to defined processes and documentation standards during design and development.
- Participate in design reviews and configuration control activities as required.
- Support project-specific quality plans and acceptance criteria.
Information Technology and Data Quality
- Ensure proper data retention, backups, and redundancy to meet audit and compliance requirements.
Desireable Knowledge Areas
- Certified Internal Auditor for AS9100 or ISO 9001.
- Experience with supplier quality management and hardware manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with ESD, FOD, and product cleanliness requirements.
- Knowledge of space industry standards (e.g., ECSS, NASA, or IPC).
- Proficiency in document control and ERP or QMS software systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
- 3–7 years of experience in quality assurance or quality systems within aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with AS9100 (Rev D) and ISO 9001 QMS frameworks.
- Strong understanding of audit processes, root cause analysis, corrective action methods, and risk management.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
- Must be able to obtain Canadian government security clearance (Canadian Controlled Goods Program)
- Bilingualism (French/English) an asset
